Bay windows near Balfron

One of our favourite projects of 2024 was the commission to manufacture new bay windows and an additional fixed window for a bathroom. The original, single glazed timber windows that were made more than 30 years ago were in a very bad condition and now needed replacing not just for aesthetic reasons but to keep the heat in and the cold out. Our new windows were made to the highest standards, using finger jointed engineered redwood timber in our workshop near Stirling, Central Scotland. All parts were primed with Jotun Visir clear primer that has superb water repellent and anti fungal properties, and the windows are now ready to be painted to the desired colour. Along with the 24mm thick double glazing these windows are made with inbuilt rubber seals, making them very well insulated and energy efficient. Our clients wanted to keep the original Georgian features of the bay windows and chose to go with astragals. These wooden mouldings go on the internal and external side of the double glazing. This is a more cost effective option than having several small panes within a window, while still looking traditional and in line with the rest of the house. We have loved working on this project, even though we had to endure temperatures ranging from -2 to -6, as the fitting happened during the coldest days of the month. Luckily, our lovely clients were making sure we stayed as warm as possible, providing us with hot coffee and a chiminea to warm up around.
